Fellowship Project: Blog Posting
After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here:
1. Are you judging God by what happens to you in your circumstances in life? Why do you think that is?
2. What does it mean to be born again?
3. What causes you to have doubt?
4. What impossible situation are you dealing with right now?
5. Discuss: Romans 12:2: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
6. Talk about transformation and the renewing of the mind.
7. What could happen tonight or tomorrow in your life that could become possible, that was impossible today?
8. Discuss what John says in 1 John 1:8 how we don’t sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
—1 John 1:8
DISCUSSION:
Many of us are going through things, but we have to remember we're going through them. We're not stopping. You're going through an impossible situation, but you're judging it by the physical. We will talk about how you can change an impossible situation into a possible one. Jesus shared with me about going to His hometown and how He was sent and only spoke when His father told Him to. He was sent, and He only did what His Father was doing. He didn't just do things on His own. He was sent to Nazareth, and Nazareth rejected Him (Luke 4:14-30). The reason why was because of their unbelief. It says that because of their unbelief, He could not perform miracles there except for a couple of small ailments that people got healed of, which weren't any significant healings. He said it was because they didn't discern Him as a Messiah. They discerned Him as the carpenter's son. They didn't discern Him as being the fulfillment of scripture. Jesus attributed that to being unbelief. He was limited because of their unbelief.
As we've mentioned in other programs, God's will isn’t always done. There is a key to turning your impossible situation around and making it possible. That happens by discerning who Jesus is. He is the Apostle and High Priest of our faith, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. In any one situation, you're still alive, you're still breathing, and you woke up this morning. God can still work with you and perform a miracle.
God confirms His Word, and He does it with signs and wonders following. There has to be a word involved with your situation for Him to confirm it with signs and wonders. It’s what causes it to become possible instead of impossible. It all has to do with discerning who Jesus. He wants to define you because He's already written about you. Until people realize who God is, they can't relate to Him. Even if they know God, they don’t always know how to relate to Him. They need to recognize that God is already related to us, and He came and decided that we were worth it.
God fixed your problem before you even had one. He decided to send Jesus and caused us to be born again, to be a new creature, a new creation. That means a new species has never existed before. That's what happens when a person is born again by the Spirit. When you acknowledge Jesus Christ with your lips, and you believe in your heart that He died and rose from the dead when you confess Him with your mouth, you shall be saved. Then that new creation that’s inside of you fixes your problem. You now can relate to God, Spirit to Spirit. He fixed it. You feel like you struggle with your relationship with God because you're trying to relate to Him on a physical level. In the five years that I've been in ministry, the big one that I've noticed is that we connect to God by what happens to us instead of knowing what God has already spoken over us. We judge God in His character by what happens in our daily lives. Then if something bad happens, we think, well, we must have made God mad. What if God had nothing to do with those bad things, which is the truth because I’ve known this to be a fact.
If you’re judging God by your circumstances, that’s not right; you're supposed to judge Him by His revealed word. You can't doubt in a heart that's born again. I know this seems like a new doctrine. If you're a new creature in Christ and old things have passed away, and all things are new, then don't you think that part of the old to pass away was your self-doubt? You can't doubt if God is inside of you. If you're born again of the spirit, there's nothing in you that will cause you to doubt.
